Not that we need more Mamdani think pieces, and especially not bs ones like this, but if I wasn’t wiped out from the end of school year frenzy, four days of temperatures in the 90s and 100s and some other, shall we say, life stuff, the Mamdani think piece I would write would ponder on what might be the impact(s) on the lives of artists in NYC with a Mayor whose wife and mother are accomplished artists. Did you know he’s Mira Nair’s son? I didn’t.
Who cooks when it’s this hot? Not me. My go to meal has been hard boiled eggs with anchovies and full fat Fage with heaps of blueberries. I need some pickled veggies in there and some salad greens and some raw seafood and it’d be perfect.
Proud of my student/client/friend Janel Moloney for her funny, poignant and utterly original Substack where she rewatches episodes of The West Wing that she was in and ponders on the meaning of life in 2025. And this week I’m also proud of my student/client/friend Rachel Sampson for publishing a Tiny Love Story in The NY Times. Can you tell some kind of story about love in 100 words? Well then pitch it.
I loved Hamilton Nolan’s piece about the subway. I don’t always agree with him but when he’s good he’s great.
And I totally agree with him about the subway. Yeah some bad things happen there and some bad things happen everywhere. I’m attaching a video and a picture from a recent adventure to Coney Island on the F train.
Happy summer, everybody. I’m going to try and swim every day. I’m no guru but I think you should, too.
I will leave you with this gem.
